Zack Barrows, Athletic Director/PE Teacher

Zack, a Chattanooga native, has a strong educational background and a passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation. He attended Tennessee Temple Academy from kindergarten through 12th grade and then spent three years at Tennessee Temple University before its merger with Carolina University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Zack furthered his education with a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

Before joining Brainerd Baptist, Zack taught at Barger Academy and Berean Academy. At Berean, he taught 4th grade and coached the boys' elementary basketball team. He is currently our head boys basketball coach. Additionally, he coaches softball at Boyd Buchanan School and with the Fury Platinum organization.

In 2023, after 7 years as a classroom teacher, Zack moved to the position of athletic director and physical education teacher. He has embraced this role with enthusiasm and is committed to developing the best PE program in the area. Zack is also dedicated to building a strong athletic department that fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. He is passionate about his work and continuously strives to make a positive impact.

Zack’s coaching and teaching style focuses on engaging students and athletes through visual aids, hands-on activities, and technology integration. As a PE teacher he is committed to meeting students at their individual skill levels, encouraging active participation, and fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment. His experience in the classroom informs his approach, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience that balances physical development with academic growth.

In February 2023, Zack married his wife, Ashley, and in February 2024, they welcomed their daughter, Ryleigh, into the world. The family enjoys attending Tennessee Vols, Atlanta Braves, Chattanooga Lookouts, and Red Wolves games throughout the year. Zack, Ashley, and Ryleigh are active members of Citizens Church in downtown Chattanooga. Zack's favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."
