3rd Grade Overview

March 29 - April 4

Math: This week we will test Unit 5 in Bridges and begin Unit 6. In Unit 6 we will be working on classifying shapes and angles. The test date for Unit 5 is scheduled for Monday, March 31st. The test for Unit 6 is scheduled for Monday, May 5th.

 

Multiplication: Students will continue working on their 9’s facts. The quiz on 8’s will take place on Friday, April 11th.


F&F: We will start our next unit, Compare and Contrast. This is a new unit to your student but the concept around comparing and contrasting is not new. The skills and vocabulary quizzes are scheduled for Monday, April 14th. The Performance test is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15th. 


Language: We will be learning about coordinating conjunctions. The quiz will take place on Wednesday, April 9th


Writing (Mrs. Adams): Students will continue their unit on “Author’s Purpose”. We will be learning about sharks and reading different pieces that correspond to persuasive writing, informational writing, and entertainment writing. This unit concludes on Thursday, April 3rd.


Spelling: Our next unit will be unit 27. This test will take place on Friday, April 11th.


Social Studies (Mrs. Mercer): Students will continue working on their new unit, “Branches of Government”. The test for this unit is scheduled for Thursday, April 3rd.


Science (Ms. Richardson): Students will continue their new unit, “Simple Machines”. Their test will be on April 8th with the famous “Egg Drop” on April 14th.


NOTES: 

  • It can be cold in our classrooms. Please make sure that your child has an appropriate sweater, sweatshirt (BBS logo on the front) to wear in the classroom. ***Please make sure to label your child’s jacket/sweater/sweatshirt. 

  • Due to rotations (Science, Social Studies, and Writing) going up to 3:00, we ask that they not leave earlier than that time. Of course, we understand if there are Dr. appointments.

  • Don’t forget to send in a snack and water bottle each day. Water bottles need to be screw on tops labeled with their name.

  • Please do not take things out of their binder pockets or “return” side without returning them. We will be using those items in class on a daily basis. This also includes interactive notebooks.
